Welcome to CTP News, the monthly newsletter of the Cuba Transition Project (CTP) at the University of Miami's Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies (ICCAS). The CTP is funded by a grant from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

 

CTP GRANT RENEWED

The Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies (ICCAS) received a new grant for one year from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in support of its Cuba Transition Project (CTP).

The new grant will continue CTP's publication of Cuba Focus and Cuba Facts. In addition, proposed activities include: the organization of several seminars in Europe and Latin America and the development of practical information for Cubans in the island on how to organize small business; labor unions; political parties; electoral processes; etc. The project will also provide specialized information on market economics to universities; think tanks; government officials; and independent economists in the island.

 

RECENTLY PUBLISHED

"Civil Society in Cuba: Advancing through Moral Convictions and Public Connectedness," a monograph by María del Pilar Aristigueta, is now available in hard copy and at our website, click here, under "Research Studies."

 

CTP PUBLICATIONS

A new issue of Cuba Focus, "Preliminary Assessment of the Impact of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike," click here to view, is now available at the CTP website.


CUBAN AFFAIRS JOURNAL
