TELECONFERENCES
WITH CUBA
|
The CTP continues to hold periodic video teleconferences
with Cuba to help those in the island prepare for a future transition.
Students from the Cuban summer program at UM, directed by Dr.
Andy Gomez, Assistant Provost and Senior Fellow at ICCAS, held
an extended exchange with Cuban youths, some of them expelled
from the university for their roles in the opposition. In their
conversation, they explored how to develop civil society and
its role in Cuba's future.
ICCAS held an additional teleconference between
Antonio Jorge, Senior Research Scholar at ICCAS, and Oscar Espinosa
Chepe, Cuban dissident and independent economist.
Also, another teleconference was held between Dr.
Luis Alberto Lacalle, former president of Uruguay, and Cuban
dissident Jorge Luís García Pérez “Antúnez.”
