| Welcome to CTP News, the monthly newsletter of
the Cuba Transition Project (CTP) at the University of Miami's
Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies (ICCAS). The
CTP is funded by a grant from the U.S. Agency for International
Development (USAID).
ICCAS co-sponsored and served as Secretariat for
the Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy's (ASCE)
18th Annual Conference. The successful conference, "Cuba
in its 50th Year of the Revolution,” was held August 5-7,
2008 in Miami, Florida.
Carlos Saladrigas, founding Chair of ICCAS Advisory
Board, has stepped down from that position. He is being replaced
by Manuel Jorge Cutillas, former Chairman of Bacardi. We thank
Mr. Saladrigas for his support and look forward to working with
Mr. Cutillas in continuing ICCAS as a leading think tank on
Cuba.
